That’s right, the 14 aeroplanes in our fleet are celebrating 50 years!

Rather, their parent company Embraer is celebrating half a century, because our aeroplanes are actually very young ?.

Since 2009, Air Dolomiti has partnered with the Brazilian company Embraer, becoming launch customer in Italy for the Embraer 195 model of the E-Jets family, which is the perfect match for our livery and in which our customers occupy the 120 comfortable seats…

Embraer was born in 1969 under the name Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica (Embraer), thanks to investments by the Brazilian government in developing the national aeronautical industry. The government elected Ozires Silva as the company’s first Chief Executive and soon the first aeroplane made by the company, the Embrader EMB 110 “Bandeirante” was born, named after a nickname given to Portuguese explorers and colonists. The twin-engine monoplane flew for the first time on 9th August 1972, becoming the first of many national and international successes for the company.

Embraer’s official website says: “For this dream to come true, it was necessary to face an overwhelming lack of resources and the scepticism both inside and outside of the country.” A challenge they faced head on, no doubt about it.

After widescale production of military aeroplanes during the 1970s and ‘80s, Embraer changed its course towards civil aviation. The company was privatised in 1994 and specialised in designing small airliners (70-110 seats), becoming a leader in the field.

For us, Embraer stands for functionality and elegance.

The Air Dolomiti fleet currently consists of 14 units, but this will increase to 17 next year and 26 by 2023.

Without further ado, Happy 50th Birthday, Embraer!
