Why not escape your daily routine to immerse yourself in the fascinating Mediterranean? We have the perfect place for you to visit in spring: Sardinia!

This beautiful Mediterranean Italian island, softly waking from the winter, with temperatures oscillating between 18 and 25°C, lies in the heart of the Mediterranean and will embrace you in its unique atmosphere. Caribbean-like beaches, historic towns steeped in charm and breathtaking landscapes await you in the south of Sardinia. In this account of my travels, I’ll give you all the tips you need to make the most of your spring holiday in Sardinia.

Sardinia in spring – Air Dolomiti takes you to Cagliari

If you want to explore the south of Sardinia, you can take an Air Dolomiti flight from Frankfurt to Cagliari, the island’s capital. When you arrive, the best way to travel through the region is to rent a car. Cagliari will immediately welcome you with its charming Mediterranean atmosphere and rich historic past. As well as savouring delicious local dishes, you can meander along the narrow streets of the old town centre, visit the evocative Palazzo di Città and admire the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria.
If you want to add a special experience to your trip, rent a car and wind your way along the coastal roads, taking in stunning breathtaking views and discovering secluded beaches along the coastline. You can also enjoy taking your own time to explore the inland countryside, discovering picturesque hamlets nestled in uncontaminated nature, as well as fascinating archaeological sites.

Southern Sardinia in the off-season

With the arrival of spring, nature re-awakens in all its glory, gifting visitors with pleasantly mild temperatures that entice them to explore the island. One of the most beautiful panoramic vistas is offered by the historic tower of Port Giunco. Soak up the fantastic weather and enjoy the wonderful view of the delightful Porto Giunco beach. On the southeast coast, barely 45 kilometres from Cagliari, you’ll feel as if you’re in the Caribbean!

Three beautiful towns to see in southern Sardinia

Cagliari
The heart of the island is a captivating combination of history, culture and typical Mediterranean charm. Losing yourself down the narrow alleyways and picturesque streets of the old town centre, admiring the glorious Cathedral of Santa Maria and being enchanted by the breathtaking sea view are all unmissable experiences!

Iglesias
In Iglesias, you can fully experience the authenticity of Sardinia. I recommend an excursion to San Giovanni Cave, just a stone’s throw away. It’s a stunning destination for nature and hiking lovers.

Pula
This charming seaside town is famous for the fascinating Nora archaeological park, which is one of the largest in Sardinia. Enjoy a pleasant break in the town and sample the delicious local cuisine.

The most beautiful springtime beaches in southern Sardinia

With its stunning beaches and breathtaking landscapes, southern Sardinia embraces you in spring with a magical and unique atmosphere. The southern coast offers a succession of pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. During the off-season, you can immerse yourself in the undisturbed beauty of these beaches, far from the frenzy of the summer months.
One of the true jewels of the southeast of the island is Sa Colonia, a vast expanse of fine sand that plunges into an emerald sea. For a breathtaking view, I recommend visiting the Castle of Acquafredda, one of the oldest in Sardinia. Other must-see gems include Simius beach in Villasimius, Cala Pira, Porto Sa Ruxi and Punta Molentis beach, each with crystal-clear waters and idyllic views.

Four spectacular sites to tour in Northern Sardinia

Stintino
Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, La Pelosa, situated in this charming fishing village in the north of Sardinia, is famous for its crystal-clear waters and white sand. I highly recommend organising a boat trip to the nearby island of Asinara to top off the experience.

Arzachena
Arzachena, in the northeast of Sardinia, is known for its intriguing historic sites, with the imposing structure of the Nuragici particularly standing out. The region is the perfect environment for hiking and mountain biking lovers.

La Maddalena
La Maddalena, with its fascinating islands scattered in the northeast of Sardinia, is one of the island’s most precious gems. I highly recommend a relaxing boat excursion to immerse yourself in marine bliss and spend a day among its crystal-clear waters.

Capo Testa
Located at the northern end of Sardinia, Capo Testa captivates you with its jagged coastline plunging into the blue sea. To lose yourself on a walk here means to let yourself go completely and experience breathtaking panoramic views; an unforgettable adventure for lovers of the beauty of natural wilderness.
